What Do You Think Of Sesame Street’s New Approach?

From what I’ve seen, there’s far less emphasis on reading, writing, numbers and community. And far more emphasis on healthy eating (excluding meat from what I’ve seen…), healthy exercise, and healthy living basically. Do you like it before or after more?

I’m still too torn up over Mr. Rogers’ death to worry about Sesame Street:(

I think the political correctness in society and changing things like a puppet for goodness sake is going a bit far, but on the other hand, we don’t watch Sesame Street.
We do numbers, letters, shapes, colors and other things through play instead of sitting in front of TV to teach it to our child. He’s 2 and all ready knows most of his colors, his shapes, some alphabet letters by sight recognition and is learning to count. I don’t think with Sesame Street doing it for him that he’d be that much along all ready for his age.

I’m a little annoyed that Cookie Monster is healthier, but I definitely understand the need with today’s rising obesity rates in children and adults.
However, in today’s society, quality of education is going downhill. I feel like I was at a much better place in early elementary school than I am as a 17 year old college freshman. There needs to be balance.
Yes, focus on the physical body, but also focus on education as well. They should include songs about the alphabet that encourage the child to get active…such as one where the kids are supposed to jump up when they say something with the letter “J”. That way they get the physical activity and an education.
    Balance is key.

Id just be happy to see more female puppet/muppets. Even with Zoe and that blond one, they’re still pretty outnumbered.

I think it’s fine as is. All of those things are important. My two year old has been watching since he was an infant.
